Constant, 24/7 Dizziness or Lightheadedness?
Okay, so I know this isn't remotely related to software or technology. But I wanted to write this quick post in an effort to spread some awareness.
I've had more or less constant dizziness for over a decade now. Seen every type of doctor you can think of, had every type of medical test done (VNG, MRI, CT scan, ultrasound of heart, arteries, etc etc). Every test kept coming back saying I was healthy.
Eventually I was pawned off on a psychiatrist, who started me on anxiety meds, which did kind of help.
Some days I felt okay, but other days I felt absolutely awful. But one thing was constant-- the more anxious I felt, the worse my dizziness became, so the idea that anxiety was at the heart definitely resonated with me.
Even still, I didn't want to believe it was "just" anxiety, and I kept trying to find some subtle medical explanation that the doctors hadn't tested for yet. After years of searching for a possible cause, I was told about The Steady Coach by a stranger on Reddit, after I posted my symptoms. The Steady Coach's YouTube channel can be found here.
The idea is that chronic, medically unexplained dizziness (as well as a host of other symptoms) can be caused by the brain misinterpreting signals from your nervous system. And, it seems to affect people who already have an anxiety issue most easily.
I think this video explains the basics the best:
This not a paid promotion in any way, and you can access most of The Steady Coach's info completely for free. I sincerely just want to put information out onto the Internet for anyone who might stumble across this post. If any of this resonates with you, check out The Steady Coach on YouTube or their web site.
Okay-- back to our usually scheduled programming ;)
